The boring but important bit
Terms & Conditions
1. Who you are buying from
Quirkley Vintage, a small handmade business based in the North East of England.
2. Making an order
Adding something to your basket and paying is an offer to buy. Your order is accepted when I send you an order confirmation email. If I cannot make or send something — because it has sold at a fair, or a material has run out — I will tell you and refund you in full.
Everything is made or finished by hand, so stock can be genuinely limited and pieces will vary slightly from their photographs.
3. Prices and payment
Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. Delivery is added at checkout and shown before you pay. Payment is taken securely by Stripe — I never see your card details.
If a price is obviously wrong through a genuine mistake, I will contact you before making the order rather than simply charging you.
4. Personalised and made-to-order pieces
These deserve their own section, because they work a little differently:
- I will send you a design or a written description to approve before anything is made.
- Please check spellings carefully — particularly names. Once approved and made, a personalised piece cannot be changed or returned because of a spelling you gave me.
- Personalised and made-to-order pieces are exempt from the 14-day right to change your mind. Your rights if something is faulty are unaffected — see returns and refunds.
- Please only send me wording, images or designs you have the right to use. I cannot reproduce logos, characters, song lyrics, artwork or photographs belonging to somebody else.
- I may decline any request I am not comfortable making, and will refund you in full if I do.
5. Delivery
See the delivery and collection page. Timescales are estimates. Risk passes to you when the parcel is delivered to the address you gave.
6. Returns
Set out in full on the returns and refunds page, which forms part of these terms.
7. Photographs and copyright
The photographs, designs and words on this site belong to Quirkley Vintage. Please do not copy them or use them to sell your own things. I am always happy for customers to share photographs of pieces they have bought.
8. Discount codes
Any discount code can be withdrawn at any time, cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot normally be used alongside another offer unless it says so.
9. My liability
Nothing here limits my liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited. Otherwise my liability is limited to the price you paid for the item.
Decorative pieces — wreaths, painted glassware and vases — are just that. Painted glassware should be washed by hand and is not suitable for the dishwasher, and I cannot be responsible for damage from washing or using an item other than as intended.
10. Complaints
Please tell me first and give me a fair chance to put it right. Most things are sorted with a friendly message.
11. The legal bits
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
I may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the one on the site when you placed it.
